Highlight Story

Enrique Iglesias is hugely popular in India and many of our Bollywood heroines would fight to share the screen with him. Singer Sunidhi Chauhan is the lucky one though. She has not only sung a Hinglish number with the international pop artiste, but has also featured with him in a sizzling music video.

The track, I can feel you..., for which the duo collaborated with lyricist-composer Shamir Tandon and Iglesias’s co-writer Mark Taylor, will be released in towards the end of February.

A friend of Tandon’s revealed that the project was discussed back in the summer of 2004, when Iglesias had toured India. “It took about six years of back and forth communication for the music piece to materialise. After the lyrics were finalised, Shamir and Sunidhi flew off to the US to record the song. A part of it was also recorded in Mumbai,” informs our source.

Explaining why the song was shot at two different venues, Tandon’s friend says, “Sometimes the artistes find it more convenient to record in their regular studios.” The two singers shared great chemistry while recording the song and later, when shooting the video in the US and UK. “The video is steamy hot,” is all that our source is willing to reveal at the moment about the visuals. He adds that Chauhan was always the first choice as the singer and actor due to her versatility in Hindi and English. “Besides, she also has that oomph factor.”

Interestingly, Iglesias has also sung the Hindi lines in the song I can feel you.... Earlier, Tandon had got Australian cricketer Brett Lee to sing in Hindi in Asha Bhosle’s album called Asha And Friends. It didn’t take long for Iglesius to get his Hindi pronunciation and diction right. “In fact, Enrique recorded most of the lines in one take,” says our source.

When contacted, Tandon, who has also collaborated with the boy band Blue on One love..., featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in Rakht (2004), declined to comment on his collaboration with Iglesias. He said, “It’s too early to say anything about it right now. At the opportune time, Enrique, Sunidhi and I will talk about the track at length.”
