Highlight Story

The man behind the smash hit Infinity, DJ Darren Bailie of the Guru Josh Project, is on a whirlwind tour of India and will be playing in Mumbai on August 14.

In the past few months he has performed all over the world alongside the likes of DJ Tiesto, Tommy Lee and Felix Da House Cat, tasting success in the US, Canada and Asia.

At the age of 16, Darren Bailie began work as a DJ in a small club in Northern Ireland called The Belfry. After setting up the Guru Josh Project in 2007, he has been unfailingly bringing interesting collaborations and dance floor anthems to the audience. “House music has become so much more open these days,” says Bailie. “It’s catchy, a little electronic and really crazy. I can't wait to go crazy in India!

Bailie is currently working on remixes for Cascada’s new release Fever, the D.O.N.S -Earth song and Boy George's Amazing Grace. Silence is his first single solo since Infinity in 2008 and is already creating ripples around the world. With Silence he went for a more non-commercial feel and cooler electric beats.

The DJ also tells us to look out for his new tracks This is the Night and Celebration which he says, like Infinity, will have a male vocalist and saxophonic sound.

“There is so much scope for crossover music. I would love to learn more about Indian beats so I can incorporate them with my own sound and go mainstream with it. I definitely hope to know more than just Punjabi Mc when I'm in India," says Bailie, laughing. "As for the audience, they can always expect a hands-in-the-air, good time from me!
