Highlight Story

For the first time ever, a Hindi movie soundtrack will have 10 Bollywood playback singers recording for it. The animated film called

Bo Mamo

, directed by Shabuddin Chowdari, will soon hold this distinction.

Record making

The song, whose recording is scheduled for Wednesday, may also have actor Juhi Chawla hitting a few high notes in it. The remaining nine singers who will also share the spotlight are Aadesh Srivastava, Shaan, Sonu Niigaam, Kunal Ganjawala, Neeraj Shridhar, Roop Kumar Rathod, Vijeta Pandit, Kailash Kher and Richa Sharma.

Sonu Niigaam

Says Kunal, “If the English song, ‘

We are the world’

can be sung by 30 to 40 musicians, then why can’t a Hindi song be created with 10 singers. It will be a great experience and I’m really looking forward to it.”

The song has been composed by Srivastava and written by Javed Akhtar. Says Aadesh, who’s been laying the final touches to the recording, “I am excited about the entire concept of this project. I just can’t wait to get into the studio.”

Grand cast

The reason why the film has roped in 10 singers for one song is because it’s story revolves around 10 animal characters. Adds Aadesh, “It was necessary to have 10 different names to match each character’s voice.”

Says Shaan, “I have previously worked for a song in the film,

Dillagi

, which had nine singers. There have been many private albums with lots of singers, but no film as yet.”

Bo Mamo

went into production last year and is the story of a baby mammoth.
