Singer Tulsi Kumar is euphoric these days. The kind of response that the songs of Aashiqui 2 have gathered, and given that she is the daughter of late Gulshan Kumar, who produced the first Aashiqui, Tulsi is quite happy with how things are going. “The project is very close to my heart, because after 23 years of Aashique’s release, I am one of the singers in the second film, and it’s a prestigious thing for me. My father always wanted me to become a singer. I think I am now living my father’s dream.”
The singer, who has sung songs like Tum Jo Aaye and Humko Pyaar Hua in the past, feels blessed to come across such melodious songs. But while she has sung mostly romantic songs, would she consider singing an item number if it came her way? “Yes, definitely. In fact, I’d like to explore every kind of song. But I’ll keep in mind that the lyrics of these songs are not too vulgar,” she says.
And while she has already worked with most of the music directors in Bollywood, Tulsi says that A R Rahman would definitely be someone she’d like to work with, while adding that she’s very hopeful that it’ll happen soon.
