Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani got together with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Imogen Heap to create a track called Minds Without Fear - for The Dewarists, a new original television series.
"The trio worked on a composition based on Rabindranath Tagore's Where The Mind is Without Fear, in which Heap introduced the audience to a variety of instruments, (some of which were played and recorded in a shop for musical instruments in Samode), and a group of schoolchildren sung the chorus. There were also distinct influences of a village band and local nagara players," reports Zaira Arslan of Indian Express.
The trio shot this video in the luxurious Samode Palace in Rajasthan. The music they created sounds fresh and transports you into that region in a refreshing manner.
The Facebook page of the concept reads: "The Dewarists is a movement that recognizes and celebrates those who have changed the rules of the game. We identify and promote those individuals who have followed their hearts and shifted the paradigm through their original approach. The Dewarists encourages individuals to do what they believe in, because some things are just worth doing."
Plot Outline, as stated on The Dewarists' Facebook page
The Dewarists, produced in a never-been-done-before music documentary-travelogue format, will see musicians from distinctly different musical backgrounds coming together to explore beautiful destinations across India. By the end of the journey, artists would have composed a track that will reflect not only each other’s genres and influences but it will also rope in the sounds and culture of the place they travel to. The Dewarists represents a melting pot of all the sounds simmering under the mainstream.
