Munni

and

Sheila

can take a hike. It’s not their

jhatkas

and

matkas

that will ring in 2011 at leading nightclubs in the city, but the evergreen New Year’s eve number,

The Final Countdown

, and the Black Eyed Peas superhit,

Tonight’s Gonna Be A Good Night

.

“I’ll be playing

Tonight’s Gonna Be...

It’s perhaps the best New Year’s eve anthem, and encapsulates everything about that night,” says DJ Aaron James, who’ll be playing at the Love Hotel at ai. “I’ll play other popular numbers through the night, but for midnight, this Black Eyed Peas track is perfect,” says DJ Vaibhav, who will play at The Aman Hotel.

Then, there’s the all-time favourite,

The Final Countdown

by Swedish rock band Europe, which is still the number one choice for others. “The number always works well with the crowd in the Capital. It’s the best song to play in the last few minutes of the year,” says DJ Sanjay Nedu, who will be playing at Olive at Qutab.

House and electronica hits are also scoring over Bollywood item numbers. “I’ll be playing Moliendo Café (Dale Dale Mix) because it has a carnival-samba vibe to it, and makes you feel as if there is a massive celebration going on. It will sweep people into the mood,” says DJ Hamza, who’s all set to perform at Circa 1193.
