It was just another evening for people gathered at the Summer House Café in Delhi's Hauz Khas Village. But everything changed the moment Coldplay frontman Chris Martin got onto the stage.
People dining at the cafe would have hardly imagined the treat they were in for when the 38-year-old singer randomly walked in and gave an impromptu performance, without any heads up, NDTV reported. The Coldplay frontman alongwith Slumdog Millionaire actor Freida Pinto are travelling in India with The Global Poverty Project, an NGO that works in the area of poverty alleviation. Chris and Freida are key supporters of the organisation.
As part of the trip, they will meet key government leaders, nonprofit partners in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) space, and participate in field visits to see innovative projects addressing sanitation in local communities throughout India.
Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani, who went on stage with Martin, explained the jam session on Twitter: "It wasn't an event. We were at a dinner together, and he just went - let's go play somewhere! And, boom!

He added, "More jam, less gig.
did all the work, though. People were going apeshit."
Delhi, actually. Summer House. More jam, less gig. Chris did all the work, though. People were going apeshit. https://t.co/ph6zwHga0E— VISHAL DADLANI (@VishalDadlani) July 1, 2015
Giving the duo company were actor Frieda Pinto, musician Raghu Dixit and members of YouTube comedy channel AIB.
Dixit called the night surreal on social media and wrote, "Best night this year! Listened @ChrisOfColdplay sing and play my guitar and the crowd going Para Para Paradise!"
Lucky ones who witnessed the jam session went crazy on Twitter bragging about the night, while some pleaded the star to come and play in their city.
