You won’t believe but Yo Yo Honey Singh still composes music on his harmonium
Singer-composer Yo Yo Honey Singh, who used to create music on his harmonium during the initial years of his career, says that he still uses the instrument to compose the first draft of any song.
Despite bringing the genre of electronic music to popular culture and Bollywood in India, singer-songwriter Yo Yo Honey Singh still composes the first draft of any song on his harmonium. He then moves on to using the sound mixer to work on the track further.
“When I started making tunes [in the beginning of my career], I just had a harmonium. I use to practice different melodies and compose songs on it. Over the years, it almost became a habit. Also, I feel that if a melody sounds great on the harmonium, it comes alive when it’s made later,” says Honey Singh.
The 34-year-old, who has been on a hiatus since 2015 after suffering from bipolar disorder, has sung songs such as Lungi Dance (Chennai Express; 2013), Sunny Sunny (Yaariyan; 2013), Party All Night (Boss; 2013), Blue Eyes (2013), Desi Kalakaar (2014), Dheere Dheere (2015) among others.
He will soon make his comeback with a new album. “I’ve been working on few tunes and will soon release an album, though I haven’t still decided on the release date. I have engrossed myself into hearing more melodies from across the globe. I’ve developed an eclectic taste and love the nature of melodies that music from various regions has to offer!” adds the singer.
