NEW DELHI: Paving the way for the broadcast of news on private FM channels, public broadcaster Prasar Bharti is all set to sign an agreement to allow such channels use news feed from All India Radio (AIR).
The channels will have the option to either broadcast the news clip as aired on AIR or read out the content verbatim.
Senior officials said an MoU will spell out the details of the agreement, including the payment structure under which the channels will be entitled to air programmes. “Prasar Bharti has no objection to private FM channels relaying news and news-based magazines from AIR. The only condition is it has to be unexpurgated content,” an official told HT.
AIR will charge the channels as per the rate card, which fixes tariff on per minute basis.
