PATNA: There are strong chances that RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s eldest daughter Misa Bharti and eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani would be the two Rajya Sabha (RS) nominees of RJD.
Party insiders said Misa’s nomination was almost certain though an official announcement might be made on Monday. Misa’s mother and former CM Rabri Devi was earlier tipped to go to the RS.
Misa has reportedly shown her inclination to go to Parliament as she could give RJD a better exposure there and play an active role in national politics.
Misa had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 parliamentary polls from Patliputra against sitting MP Ram Kripal Yadav of BJP. For the second seat, Jethmalani may be nominated.
While he is considered close to Prasad as he handles Prasad’s legal cases, many leaders are reportedly not impressed with the proposal to send him to the RS. Senior RJD leader Izaz Ali has asked RJD to nominate a Muslim candidate as minorities have been its major vote bank. The JD(U) renominated sitting MPs Sharad Yadav and RCP Singh for the RS.
