A 23-year-old woman has alleged that she was gang-raped at gunpoint by four men in a moving car on the intervening night of July 22 and 23, police said on Thursday.
In her FIR, the woman told the police that she was offered a lift in the car from outside a shopping mall in Gurgaon to her home in West Delhi’s Nihal Vihar by the accused on July 22. She also alleged that the four men robbed her of Rs 5,000 before dumping her at a secluded place at Uttam Nagar.
According to the woman, she had made a couple of calls to the Delhi Police control room while she was being threatened and sexually abused in the moving car. However, she could not respond to the call receivers at the police control room because the calls were made surreptitiously as the accused were in the car.
The woman in her complaint, a police officer said, claimed that she was standing outside a shopping mall and waiting for an auto rickshaw to return home. In the meantime, a Maruti Swift car stopped and offered her lift. The woman told police that she willingly sat inside their car.
After crossing the Gurgaon-Delhi border two of the accused who were sitting next to her on the rear overpowered her. When she resisted and attempted to scream for help, the third accused who was seated on the front passenger seat pointed a pistol at her. He threatened her with dire consequences if she raised any alarm.
“The woman alleged that the four accused took turns to rape her in the moving car. She was then dumped at an isolated place in Uttam Nagar. Also, before leaving the place, the accused robbed her of Rs 5,000,” said a police officer.
A PCR van reached the spot where the woman was dumped after she called up the police. She was taken to the Dwarka police station from where the police took her to a nearby hospital for medical examination. A case was registered on her complaint.
“Initial investigation into the case revealed that there was an argument between the woman and the accused over exchange of money. We have formed teams to identify the accused and bring them to book. We are scrutinizing the CCTV footage of the routes taken by the accused.
Sketches on the basis of description given by the victim, are also being prepared,” added the officer.
