The CBI is bracing itself with revelations of more tapes allegedly involving its former 2G case prosecutor AK Singh with other accused as well, clearly indicating that the damage to its trial strategy may have been more than what was earlier presumed.

After probing the matter for more than a week, investigators suspect that the conversation was taped as a result of corporate espionage.

Preliminary forensic examination of the taped conversation suggests it was neither edited nor tampered. So far only one 17 minute long conversation has come to light.

“The conversations it contained were in continuity, there is no evidence of any editing or tampering. It did not seem like a cut and paste job,” said a source.

AK Singh was removed from the trial after the alleged conversation came to light.

“We suspect that there might be more conversations wherein Singh may have allegedly spoken to other accused as well, though we have only one such conversation available with us.

"Corporate espionage is emerging as the most possible reason of recording such conversations. We are now having a fresh look at the damage it may have done to the agency’s 2G trial strategy,” said a senior agency official.

The agency sent the CD for forensic examination and questioned both Singh and Chandra at length about it. Both of them have denied the allegations.
