31 women found abandoned in metro, railway stations in Delhi: govt

31 women were found abandoned at metro and railway stations in the national Capital in 2013, the government said on Tuesday.

According to minister of state for home affairs Mullapally Ramachandran, a total of 164 women were found abandoned in such facilities in the Capital during the period between 2011 and April 30, 2013.

While 31 were found till April 2013, 73 women were found abandoned in 2012, and 60 in 2011, he said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

He said the Delhi Metro has given instructions regarding how to deal with abandoned women and children found in their premises and that workshop for managers were also held.

Corruption: Between 2010 and March 31, 2013, CBI registered cases against 333 officials of municipal corporations in the Capital while Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi government registered cases against 212 officials, the government said.

Illegal constructions: The Delhi Police has received 204 complaints regarding illegal constructions in the first two months of this year but no action has been taken against any personnel for aiding them, according to the government.

Last year, 805 complaints were received and action was taken against 63 personnel while in 2011, the figures were 1,476 and 101. In 2010, 616 complaints were received and action was taken against 189 personnel.
