Three foreign nationals, including a Pakistani, have been arrested along the Indo-Nepal border while trying to enter India without proper travel documents, raising serious concern in the Home Ministry. Highly placed sources said one Israeli, one German and a Pakistani were arrested
recently during regular checking by the border guarding force SSB.

"As the Indo-Nepal border is open and porous in nature and citizens of India and Nepal can cross over it freely, the nationals of other country were trying to take advantage of it. They were carrying no valid travel documents," an official said.

The Home Ministry has directed the SSB to beef up security along the 1,751-km long Indo-Nepal border as there have been reports of Pakistan-based militant organisations trying to send terrorists to India through the border.

"We are concerned over the reports that areas along the Indo-Nepal border have been used by elements inimical to the country," the official said.

The arrests came days before India decided to fortify its embassy in Nepal following a threat of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) attack.

Suspected Indian Mujahideen militant Salman Ahmed was arrested by security forces in Siddharth Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh on March six.

Under its so-called 'Karachi Project', IM sends Indian youths to Pakistan for terror training and again push back them to the country, many of them through Indo-Nepal border, to carry out subversive activities, the official said.
