The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday criticised the Delhi BJP for raking up the power issue to gain political mileage ahead of the assemblyelections.
“With assemblyelections round the corner, the BJP is desperately trying to come to the limelight by focusing on the issue of spiralling prices of electricity in Delhi. The BJP, which seems to be waking up from its deep slumber now, was unfortunately asleep for several years when the electricity prices were rising steeply,” said an AAP spokesperson.
A statement issued by AAP posed several questions to the BJP: “The 2010 order prepared by then power regulator chief Bijendra Singh stated that the tariffs instead of being increased can be decreased by at least 23%. This order was in the possession of the Congress possession, the power regulator and the BJP for three years. Why did it not reveal this order earlier when the prices of power were going up manifold; why did it wait till the election year?”
