Demanding the scalp of Neeraj Kumar, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday alleged that the Delhi Police commissioner had links with Navy war room case accused Abhishek Verma.

Prashant Bhushan, leader of AAP, claimed the city did not have faith in the police commissioner any more. "The problem will be solved if such a tainted person is removed."

Bhushan claimed Verma's close associate Edmonds Allen had written to the government earlier that Kumar had links with the alleged arms dealer.

Rebutting the allegations, Kumar said in a statement: "Bhushan has made several false, scurrilous and defamatory allegations, which are baseless, unfounded and ludicrous, with the sole intention of besmirching my personal integrity, reputation and competence."

The police chief said the allegations were at the behest of persons who have been arrayed as accused in investigations conducted under his supervision during his tenure in the CBI.

"It appears that Bhushan is acting at the behest of the same vested interests, i.e. accused persons and particularly those whom I had investigated during my tenure in the CBI and who have filed several petitions against me as I was not willing to bend or compromise in their case," he said.

Bhushan claimed Verma in the letter had claimed that he had close links with Neeraj Kumar.

"There are many serious charges pending against him that includes fabrication of documents during investigation of the case," Bhushan claimed.

Kumar had already issued a legal notice to retired bureaucrat MG Devasahayam, who had raised similar allegations.

Women's force
The AAP has decided to set up a Women's Security Forces in every college and the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Volunteers of the party will be part of this force, likely to start functioning from May 6.
