Three days after a woman Delhi police sub-inspector was molested and beaten up by a group of men, all known to her, in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar, the police are still on the lookout for one Kasim and two of his accomplices. Three other accused have already been arrested.
Police said the victim police officer was molested and attacked with sticks by the six men on Monday night when she protested against their passing lewd remarks at her and reportedly slapped one of them.
The three arrested men have been identified as the victim's neighbours Ravi, Navin and Rohit. A police officer said the victim has had arguments with the accused in the past over petty issues.
On Monday night, around 10pm, the sub-inspector was walking back home after work when two of the accused, riding a motorcycle, passed some lewd remarks. "She got into a verbal spat with them during which she slapped one of the two. Enraged, they called four of their friends. All the six then attacked her with sticks and molested her," said the police officer, adding that the victim screamed for help and was rescued by some neighbours.
After the accused disappeared, the woman sub-inspector made a call to the Mehrauli police station and informed her colleagues. A team from the Mehrauli police station arrived immediately and rushed the victim to a nearby private hospital. Later, a joint team of the Mehrauli and Sangam Vihar police conducted raids and arrested three of the six accused.
