North Delhi is all set to get the first layout plan of an unauthorised colony passed. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation in its next standing committee meeting will pass the layout plan of Bhagwan Park colony in Burari, a senior official in the corporation said.

"There are 98 plots in the colony, which stands on a total area of 10430.1 sq. metres. The layout committee, which includes the additional commissioner, engineering department, chief town planner and other officials, has finalised it. Once the standing committee clears it, the plan will get sanctioned. Four others are almost ready as well," the official said, adding that the School of Architecture and Planning of IP University has prepared the layout plans for the colonies.

The other four colonies which, according to corporation sources, will also get their plans sanctioned in 10-odd days, are Hardev Nagar, Chandan Vihar, Uttranchal Enclave and Parvatianchal C-Block. There are 42 unauthorised regularised colonies under the jurisdiction of the north corporation. The process of regularisation of unauthorised colonies was started around 10 years back and took time to be completed as various complex procedures were involved.

"A detailed planning process was required, guidelines needed to be finalised, aerial photographs had to be taken and surveys were conducted by the deputy commissioners and sub-divisional magistrates. On September 4, 2012, the government notified the boundaries of these colonies and asked the corporations to prepare layout plans," the official said.
