In what police called a calculated hit, two bikers gunned down a BJP worker and small-time criminal near south Delhi’s Saket on Thursday afternoon.
The shooting took place in Pushp Vihar sector 1, close to the Saket district courts complex. Kapil Dev, 30, a resident of southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, had come for a court appearance and was on his way back. He had just alighted from his car, a Mahindra XUV, outside the local central park when the two men on a black Pulsar stopped and pumped two bullets into him, the police said.
“He was shot twice by what seems to be a country-made pistol before the assailants fled, firing shots in the air to ward off witnesses and Kapil’s two associates,” an officer said.
“We suspect it to be a case of personal enmity. The men seem to belong to southeast Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur, have been identified and will be arrested soon.”
Dev, who had six criminal cases registered against him, was rushed to Batra hospital where doctors declared him dead.
