In what looks like a case of fallout of an illicit relationship, a 21-year-old boxing coach was arrested for allegedly killing his ‘father’, a 52-year-old-man in Sarita Vihar area of southeast Delhi, police said.
The deceased, identified as Bheem Singh Nagar, was chased and gunned down on Friday night by Ravi, 21, and his friend Rahul, 19, near Sarita Vihar. Ravi is a coach at Indira Gandhi stadium and Rahul is pursuing BBA. They were arrested on Sunday night.
During police investigations, it was found that Nagar was in an illicit relationship with a woman, Kamlesh, who also claimed to be his wife. She also claimed to have had two sons — Lokesh and Ravi — and a daughter out of this relationship. “We started verifying movements of various persons associated with both Nagar and Kamlesh. It was noticed that Kamlesh’s elder son Ravi was missing since the murder,” OP Mishra, deputy commissioner of police (southeast), said.
It also came to light Ravi repeatedly got in touch with his mother after the incident. Ravi’s absence and conduct aroused suspicion, Mishra added. The relationship between Kamlesh and Nagar had strained over issue of share in property. “Initially, Nagar was very fond of him. But later he started ill-treating his mother. Nagar also tried to evict them from his property. Since he was also humiliated publicly several times by Nagar, Ravi decided to kill him,” the DCP said.
According to the police, Ravi and Rahul had earlier stolen a motorcycle from Delhi University’s arts faculty. Ravi told the police that the US-made 7.62 pistol that he used in the shooting belonged to Nagar. Ravi had “quietly taken it from Nagar’s house when they had better relations”.
