Renewing the debate over Rahul versus Narendra Modi battle in 2014 general election, the Congress expressed its confidence that "only" Rahul Gandhi will become the Prime Minister in future.
A day after senior Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh claimed that Gandhi had never said that he would never become the Prime Minister and added that he would be happy to see him in the top job, the Congress added that all party workers want to see Gandhi him as PM.
"All the workers and leaders of Congress wish from the core of their heart that Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister of the country. We are confident that only Rahul will become the Prime Minister of the country," Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said here on Tuesday.
The BJP, however, took a dig at Gandhi's chances of becoming the Prime Minster. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, BJP spokesperson, said, "We have seen his ability in Bihar and UP"-pointing to the failure of the Congress to get significant number of seats in the two state assembly elections.
Brushing aside BJP's criticism, Alvi said that the Congress vice president has all the qualities required to be the Prime Minister.
