The student union election in the two leading universities, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University may have fallen on the same day but the former is yet to announce its result.
The counting for the councillors' seats for the different schools in JNU is still on, with a number of candidates from All India Students' Association (AISA) winning.
AISA candidates are also leading the race for the posts of Vice President and Secretary. The counting for the post of the president is yet to begin though most feel that the candidate from AISA, Akbar Chawdhary is the most likely to win.
JNU still uses paper ballot for elections and hence it takes a longer time for the election commission to count the votes and declare the result. The final result is expected to come out by Sunday evening.
