The Delhi police on Friday arrested the playschool owner whose husband allegedly raped a three-and-a-half-year-old girl on the school premises. The woman, Poonam, has been arrested for negligence.
The minor was drugged and raped inside a bathroom of the school in southwest Delhi's Sagarpur area on Monday, the police said.
The accused, Pramod Malik, who works as a senior official in an autonomous research institute, was arrested on Tuesday.
"My daughter told the police and the magistrate that Malik had even drugged and raped her friends in the bathroom on Monday morning," the girl's mother had said. The girl had been attending Pathshala playschool -- about 100 metres from her house -- for the past one-and-a-half years.
The girl's grandmother said the girl looked "sad and drowsy" when she returned from the school on Monday.
"She did not talk much and slept throughout the day. In the evening, she started vomiting. We took her to a clinic, but the doctor asked us to take her to a police station, saying it to be a police case. I asked her if anything had happened with her. She complained of pain in her private parts and said that Malik had forced her to consume a tablet," the girl's grandmother had said.
She said her granddaughter started “crying and screaming” when she saw Malik during the identification at the station.Hindustan Times, News,
