A 26-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her former employer’s son and injuring his wife and then attempting to commit suicide.

The police said the woman, Asha, was seeking revenge for being allegedly humiliated and sacked from her job without any proper reasons.

Asha, a resident of Nihal Vihar in west Delhi, worked as a computer operator at Sushil Gupta’s share trading office in Mianwali Nagar.

The police said Asha had gone to her Gupta’s house in Ambica Vihar with the intention of killing him and his family.

The incident took place on September 2 night. Gupta was out for some work but his wife Anita, son Varun and daughter Swati were present at home.

Ranvir Singh, deputy commissioner of police (west), said Asha had suffered serious cut wounds during her suicide attempt. She was formally arrested on Friday after her condition was declared to be stable by doctors of Sparsh Hospital in west Delhi where she was undergoing treatment.

“On September 2, a PCR call was received from Global Bhatia Hospital in Ambica Vihar that one Varun Gupta, 26, was admitted in the hospital with serious stab injuries in his abdomen. A police team reached the hospital and learnt that he had succumbed to his injury,” Singh said. A case of murder had been registered.

Singh said Anita in her statement accused Asha of killing her son.

Anita claimed she had gone to the kitchen while Varun and Swati were sitting in the drawing room with Asha. After a few minutes, Swati went to her room leaving Varun and Asha in the drawing room.

Sometime later, they heard Varun’s scream, following which Anita rushed out o find her son in a pool of blood.

Asha then attacked Anita and a scuffle broke out. Hearing her mother scream, Swati rushed out and Anita somehow managed to overpower Asha. But by then, Asha had stabbed herself too.Varun was later rushed to a hospital where the doctors pronounced him brought dead.“Asha said she was sacked from her job even though she was working sincerely and helping Gupta in his business,” said Singh.
