The Delhi High Court will on Friday hear a petition filed by a group of journalists challenging a lower court order that had restrained the media from reporting the recent gangrape case proceedings.
"The entire country is interested in the case. The gag order is against public interest," senior advocate Meenakshi Lekhi told a bench headed by chief justice D Murugesan who referred the case to a single judge bench. The matter will now be heard by a single judge bench of justice Rajiv Shakder.
District and sessions judge RK Gauba had on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging a metropolitan magistrate's order imposing the gag order.
