The Delhi High Court on Wednesday slammed the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and NDPL for not having settled the tariff dispute between them, which had led the discom to disconnect power to around 45,000 streetlights in north and northwest Delhi for nearly 10 days.

The power supply was restored recently after the civic agency cleared part of its dues.

Areas in and around Moti Nagar, Model Town, Shakti Nagar, Civil Lines, Pitampura, Keshavpuram, Rohini, Narela, Bawana and adjacent areas plunged into darkness on March 21 for 10 days following a dispute over non-payment of dues of Rs. 60.29 crore.

“Both parties shall resolve the dispute in public interest within three months,” a bench of Chief Justice D. Murugesan and Justice VK Jain said while hearing a public interest litigation filed by one Arpit Bhargava.
