The two main Hindu litigants in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case — the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla Virajman (idols of baby Ram) — have decided to challenge the September 30 High Court verdict in the Supreme Court and seek the entire plot of land for their temple.

The verdict said the land should be divided into three equal parts between the three main litigants — the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Wakf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla Virajman.

The head of the Nirmohi Akhara, Mahant Bhaskar Das, told HT on Tuesday, “If the entire land is Ram Janmabhoomi, then all of it should be left for Lord Ram.” He also said the two main Hindu parties to the dispute had decided to work together for construction of the Ram Temple.

This was decided at a meeting in Faizabad between Mahant Bhaskar Das and Ram Vilas Das Vedanti, a senior member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, which was set up by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad to organise construction of the Ram Temple.

Triloki Nath Pandey, the ‘next friend of Ram Lalla Virajman’, said: “Though Mahant Bhaskar Das has not spoken to me, he would have my instant consent and cooperation in working together for the temple. Working together would be in the right spirit and would be logical.”
