A Congress MP on Wednesday faced the fury of film actor and Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan in the Rajya Sabha for allegedly clicking her photographs from his mobile phone.
After Bachchan complained to her colleagues, senior Cong-ress leader Ambika Soni pulled up Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, asking him to delete the photos and apologise.
Balmuchu immediately deleted them and went up to Bach-chan to seek an apology, but she did not relent and said: “You will have to pay a price for this.”
The incident, a day after Lok Sabha passed the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, happened immediately after the House was adjourned at 2pm on the issues of Union steel minister Beni Prasad Verma's remarks against SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and AIADMK, DMK protests on the Sri Lankan Tamils issues.
As the members were getting up from their seats to leave the House after vice chairperson Renuka Choudhary had adjou-rned it, Bachchan spotted the Congress member from Jhar-khand clicking her pictures with his mobile phone.
She strongly protested and was joined by Smriti Irani of the BJP who is also a television star. “This is harassment...,” Bach-chan shouted.
The drama continued for about ten minutes before all the members left.
