Mutilated bodies of two children, killed by wild animals, were found near jungles of Behta Hajipur by locals. Suraj Kumar (5) and Kishan Kumar (6) had gone missing three days ago from near their residence in the Rahul Garden area of Loni, police officials said. Their parents lodged a missing complaint at border check post Thursday evening.

The two were found dead inside a deep trench with their bodies were torn apart by the animals, police said. Police officials, who reached the spot minutes after recovery of the missing children's bodies, told Hindustan Times that the wild dogs and jackals had probably attacked the two friends which resulted in fatal injuries.

“The chest and abdomen areas of the children were badly damaged and bore animal’s teeth marks,” said a senior police official.

Kishan was reportedly studying at a primary school in Loni. The family members of the two victims belong to Badayun and Kanpur areas of UP and had recently come to Loni. One of the victim’s parents denied any foul play.

“They both were playing nearby on August 3 and later ventured into the isolated fields near the jungles and could not be found after that,” said Sumitra Devi, mother of one of the victims.

“Prima facie, the children were attacked by jackals or hyenas which resulted in their death. Their bodies did not have any injury marks that are mostly found on murder victims. But we have sent bodies for post-mortem and will look into all possibilities,” the SSP said.
