Slamming the Congress conclave as “more about chinta (worry) than chintan (brainstorming)”, the BJP on Saturday said the UPA rule had just brought corruption, inflation and policy paralysis for the common man.

Party’s chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad wondered whether Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s concern for youth aspirations at the party’s Chintan Shivir at Jaipur was about the youth or about the elevation of Rahul Gandhi. “Is this concern for the youth a concern for the young Gandhi and his interests?” Prasad asked.

And then he answered it himself: “Sorry, there’s no vacancy for the PM post…. NDA would come to power (in 2014 elections) and a BJP leader would occupy the post”. He added that the BJP ruled states had posted double-digit growth, including 18% agricultural growth in Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, on Rahul Gandhi becoming Congress’ VP, Shahnawaz Hussain said: “This announcement has not come as a surprise. He was already number two after Sonia Gandhi. Only a member of Nehru-Gandhi family can be number two”.
