Rohini area suffers from gross design faults and lack of signage on main roads. Your comments?
We have installed signage on almost all roads across the Capital but we haven't got a single complaint of faulty signage, not even from traffic police. As far as faulty road designs and discontinuous slip roads are concerned, the area had been developed by the Delhi Development Authority. In case there are problems, we will look into them and take steps.
Streetlights on all PWD roads have been installed and being maintained by private companies. There is a central control room where we can monitor the functioning of streetlights. There could be specific problem somewhere but by and large the private companies are maintaining 95-98% lights.
Pedestrian crossing points in most areas in Rohini can be counted on one's fingertips, while many, especially in Mahendra Park and Rani Bagh, have been created by residents after dismantling iron grills from the road dividers.
There are about 25 pedestrian bridges which are under construction and should be complete by March this year. In case we get a requisition from the area MLA or MP or from general public for pedestrian bridge, we have a committee that looks into the demand.
All lane markings and zebra crossings were painted before the Commonwealth Games. It is a continuous process and we repaint the markings wherever required.
