With Baba Ramdev scheduled to start hunger strike from June four here, Congress on Friday suggested that there was no need for the Yoga Guru to resort to it as the government has taken various measures to unearth black money.

"This is a free country. Though government and Congress are not obliged to go to any individual, we have apprised him of every possible action on corruption," party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.

He said there was no magic wand either with the government or Baba Ramdev which if used can end corruption in one go. "Law of the land will take its own course. If after all that some body insists then it is that person's own thinking," he said.

Announcing his indefinite hunger strike in the capital from June four demanding a strong Lokpal Bill and bringing back black money stashed in tax havens abroad, Baba Ramdev had said Anna Hazare will also join the movement.

Demanding declaration of black money as national treasure, Ramdev sought the ratification of United Nations Convention Against Corruption Treaty in Parliament which can be sent to UN paving the way for bringing back the Rs 400 crores of black money to India.

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh had a few days back taken a potshot at the Yoga Guru saying it would be better if he did not go for his proposed fast-unto-death against corruption as he might not get the same public response as Anna Hazare.
