In an attempt to counter the Opposition onslaught over its recent economic initiatives, the Congress will take its reforms agenda to the people in a rally on Sunday.
The party plans to explain the reasons behind its decisions of allowing foreign investment in retail, increasing diesel prices and putting a cap on subsidised gas cylinders.
The rally at Delhi's Ramlila Ground is being billed as a show of strength by the Congress with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party general secretary Rahul Gandhi being the star speakers.
The party appears to have already gone into battle preparedness for the next Lok Sabha elections - scheduled for 2014 - and Sunday's rally would be followed by 'Samvad Baithak (dialogue session)' on November 9 at Surajkund on the outskirts of Delhi.
The party is pulling out all stops to make the rally a success with Congress ruled states of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan putting in extra effort to ensure "huge" participation.
A large number of people have already started arriving from the neighbouring states, especially Haryana.
