Baba Ramdev on Saturday announced a daylong fast at Jantar Mantar on June 3 even as he sought to play down differences with Team Anna.
Ramdev and Team Anna's joint one-day fast at Jantar Mantar as part of their fight against corruption will coincide with the first anniversary of the police action on the Yoga evangelist's followers at the Ramlila Maidan. Ramdev will reach the venue after more than a month of travel as part of the third leg of his Bharat Swabhiman Yatra.
Ramdev sought to play down rumoured differences with Team Anna and said the two would be parallel movements in the fight against corruption. "But whenever needed, we will share the platform," Ramdev said at a media conference.
Team Anna - after a hot-and-cold relationship with Ramdev - too had made similar announcements a few days ago, saying it would support each other as and when required and that they were together on the issue fighting corruption.
Ramdev rubbished suggestions that Team Anna had problems with him. "My frequency matches with Annaji on the issue of corruption and black money. It is the corrupt politicians and (also) corrupt corporates who have a problem with Ramdev and Anna Hazare coming together. It is they who are opposing," he said.
