When chief minister Sheila Dikshit was listing her achievements in the 14th year of governance in Delhi under her leadership, Dilli Annashree Yojana, her ambitious project that guarantees food security to two lakh vulnerable families, was recording its biggest feat.
On Wednesday, the government transferred Rs 8 crore to the accounts of 13,640 new beneficiaries covered under the Annashree Yojana, the biggest cash transfer in this scheme on a single day.
The Dilli Annashree Yojana was one of the schemes the Delhi government had launched last year and found mention in Dikshit's speech at the function to release 'Working Report 2012, Government of NCT of Delhi'.
Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel, however, was critical. "Dikshit could not prevent Delhi from becoming a slum where 40 lakh people live in unauthorised colonies, 30 lakh people in slum clusters and another 10 lakh in slums. Yet she claims the capital is world-class city," Goel said.
