The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra on the CBI’s plea to cancel his bail. In its application, CBI alleged Chandra had attempted to “sabotage the 2G trial” by approaching the then prosecutor AK Singh.

The prosecuting agency had on July 2 moved the SC seeking cancellation of his bail.

The CBI’s plea comes subsequent to its inquiry into the sting operation conducted in September 2012. CBI had immediately removed Singh after an audio recording between Chandra and Singh surfaced in February 2013.

CBI wants more time to reply to Essar’s plea

The CBI sought more time ,on Friday, to respond to a plea by Essar Teleholdings Ltd, seeking a joint trial with former telecom minister A Raja in a case probing the 2G scam. Essar stated  that since they have been treated as “co-accused”, a separate trial would mean “breach of SC directions.”
