A Delhi court on Friday sought responses from jail authorities of different states, where the accused of Delhi serial blasts are at present lodged, on a plea by the Delhi Police to conduct proceedings in the cases through video conferencing to avoid delay.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja issued notices to jail superintendents of Gujarat and Maharashtra, asking them to explain whether video links could be established from their respective prisons by August 21.

Delhi Police had filed an application stating since the accused were not being produced in the courts despite production warrants, the jail authorities may be directed to arrange their production through video conferencing in the interest of justice in the cases.

Meanwhile, accused Akbar Ismail Choudhary was on Friday handed over to Gujarat police on transit remand for his alleged role in serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 last year.

Gujarat police was directed by the CMM to produce the accused before an Ahmedabad court on or before August eight.

Of the 11 accused of serial blasts of September 13 last year, Mohd Saif, Zeeshan Ahmed, Mohd Shakeel, Zia-ur Rehman, Saquib Nissar, Quamuddin Kapadia and Mohd Sadiq Sheikh are in Gujarat for investigation into their alleged role in serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 last year.
