A 25-year-old man was arrested for stabbing to death two men and injuring his estranged mother, during an alleged bid to occupy a plot owned by him and his father in northwest Delhi's Alipur, in a fit of rage on Friday afternoon, police said.
Identified as one Akmal, police said the fatal confrontation between him and the victims, Shamshul Hasan, 48, a property dealer and his associate, Kamluddin, 45, was triggered after they reached the accused's house located in Swarn Jayanti with his estranged mother Shahjahan around 3:30 pm.
“According to eyewitnesses, Akmal got incensed as soon as Shahjahan, who had abandoned Akmal and his father Younus some two decades ago and started living in Uttar Pradesh's Etah, landed at the said property with the intention of forcibly occupying it,” said an officer.
Police said there was an immediate confrontation between the mother and son during which he apparently began assaulting her. Shamshul and Kamluddin tried to intervene which further incensed Akmal who suddenly produced a knife.
“Akmal then started attacking his mother and the two men in a fit of rage — stabbing all three violently before one of his friends appeared on the scene riding a motorcycle on which the duo fled,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, the local police were intimated about the incident and rushed the three victims to hospital where both Shamshul and Kamluddin were declared dead by doctors.
“Shahjahan is currently undergoing an operation and, is critical. A case of murder has been lodged at the Alipur Police Station,” the officer added.
