Registration of the property you sell or purchase or documents related to your will is set to become easier in Delhi.
The revenue department is looking at the possibilities of connecting each of its 16 sub-registrar offices in the capital, paving way for Delhi residents to pick an office of their choice and convenience to get various documents registered.
The transport department has already connected each of its 13 zonal transport authority offices. Anyone applying for a learner’s licence has the option of going to any of zonal office of his/her choice to get it made. The sub-registrar offices are also, once connected, expected to function in a similar manner.
Delhi revenue minister Arvinder Singh said work to refurbish and convert the sub-registrar offices into e-sub registrar offices and computerise all land records was on in full swing.
“We have already renovated four sub-registar offices - Mehrauli, Vivek Vihar, Rohini and Kapashera. The remaining would be converted into e-sub registrar offices by the end of this year. You can obtain an online appointment at these four offices if you live in an area falling under their jurisdiction.
The entire data is being computerised. Once these offices are inter-connected, the entire data will be available online and residents will be able to take appointment at any of these offices or just walk in according to their convenience to get their work done,” Singh said. He said the move will help in easing rush at certain sub-registrar offices.
A sub-registrar offices on an average takes care of registrations of around 32 different documents, including the sale deeds, rent agreements, wills, and power of attorney.
The facility of approaching a sub-registrar of your own choice is available in states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
