Two policemen were injured while attempting to chase down a vehicle at northwest Delhi's Kanjhawala early on Sunday morning, police said.
According to police, head constables Udaybhan, 47 and Satbeer, 58, were patrolling their respective areas around 4 am when they noticed a speeding sedan and attempted to flag it down.
“The offending vehicle, a Hyundai Accent, was spotted near the Sir Chotu Ram Polytechnic Institute," said an officer.
The police said the injured duo, suspecting that the occupants of the other vehicle were up to some mischief, first directed the car to stop before attempting to chase it down when its driver refused to pay heed.
However, when the PCR van gave chase, the Accent rammed into it from the side before rapidly speeding away. The impact was such that the PCR van collided with a road divider and toppled over.
“The injured policemen made a call and we rushed them to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for immediate medical care,” the officer said.
