Two women working for a PR firm were allegedly harassed and their male colleague physically assaulted by two motorcycle-borne men at south Delhi’s Nizamuddin on Saturday evening, police said.
According to police, the duo began following the victims, who were aboard a Toyota Etios car with three of their male colleagues, soon after they had set out from their office on Birbal Road and were headed towards a coffee shop on Mathura Road around 4.30 pm.
“In their complaint, the victims claim that the bikers began following them when they were taking the right turn at the Neela Gumbad roundabout after which they started staring, and passing comments at the women,” said an officer.
Minutes later, the victims informed the police, the men intercepted them as soon as their vehicle turned towards the Zakir Hussain Marg, prompting one of their male colleagues, who was driving the car, to ask the duo what they were doing.
It was in reaction to this, the victims claimed, that one of the men got off the bike, approached their vehicle and tried opening the door near one of the women.
“The driver, however, protested and got out in a bid to try and hold off the man. A scuffle ensued during which the driver was assaulted even as the others inside the car tried contacting the police control room and the biker’s associate joined him — this time, with an iron rod in his hand,” the officer said.
The registration number of the motorcycle had been noted.
