Rain brings winter chill to Delhi
Work has started in the Rs. 1800 crore Yamuna interceptor scheme of the Delhi government that is expected to clean the polluted river.
“Maili Yamuna is a concern of the government, which is keen to bring back life in the river by completing a major project of interceptor sewers along Yamuna,” said MLA Mukesh Sharma, who is also parliamentary secretary to Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, during a rally in his constituency.
Sharma said the scheme will be monitored at the highest level and would be completed at the earliest. The internal sewer lines are being laid at an estimated cost of Rs. 234 crore.
