Janata Party chief and former Union minister Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that the Congress owed its election "drubbing" by the BJP to its president Sonia Gandhi, and asked the Italian-born leader to quit politics.
The Congress defeat was "largely due to the unacceptability of
Gandhi as a leader", Swamy said in a statement.
He added that Gandhi should owe up to the responsibility and "quit politics".
The Congress lost power to the BJP by huge margins in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as results were declared on Thursday for the elections held on Monday.
