Film star Jeetendra is impressed with the Rajya Sabha member and Shiv Sena nominee from Mumbai North West constituency Sanjay Nirupam and so he wants to do some "dil ki baaten with the people".
In fact, he is one of the few film stars who are willing to campaign against Sunil Dutt when even the likes of Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha have refused to do so.
But the real reason lies elsewhere. It is a personal debt that he is repaying to Nirupam. “I went to him with some problem and Sanjay immediately fixed an appointment for me with the union minister concerned and ensured that my work is done quickly”, Jeetendra reveals.
“I am also obliged. I had never gone to Sanjay before. But still he took my problem as his own. It could happen because Sanjay is a nice man. I assure you that Sanjay would be at your doorstep the moment you remember him. The film star further says and asks the public to raise slogan with him-"Jitega bhai jitega, Sanjay Nirupam jitega". But the public response is not equally obliging.
The jumping jack of the seventies and eighties silver screen had joined the BJP in February this year. So he knows what is there in the mind of the crowd. “No, no. I have no political ambitions; never want to be an MP or MLA or a Rajya Sabha member. All I want at this juncture of my life to introduce you to a very fine person, to the right man in politics. He is Sanjay Nirupam”, says Jitendra.
The Shiv Sena desperately needed a film star to campaign against Sunil Dutt, the Congress candidate, who has the support of most other film stars even if they are with the BJP and cannot campaign for him openly. "Please vote for Sanjay. And if you vote in a wrong man-then Ram bolo Ram."
The Shiv Sena and Nirupam should be happy, because even they did not dare to label Dutt as the wrong man at any time, not even when the latter's son was behind bars in a TADA case.
