Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) rebuked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for not reaching a 'consensus' at the national level to 'expose' the Karnataka Government for violating Supreme Court directives on release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on Saturday, like done by her on the Queen Mary's
'Jayalalithaa made a hue and cry and dashed off letters to all Chief Ministers on the college issue, alleging that the rights of states had been taken away by the Central Goverment for issuing a notification banning constructions on coastal areas, but she did not bother to adopt a similar approach on Cauvery issue', PMK founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss said in a statement here.
When Karnataka 'ignored' the pleas of Andhra Pradesh not to go ahead with the 'Paragodu' project on river Chitravathi, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister took up the matter with Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, seeking her intervention.
'If Tamil Nadu had followed a similar path last year on Cauvery water release, farmers here would have saved atleast one crop', he said adding that Jayalalithaa was getting angry when such 'useful suggestions' were being made.
'Instead of adopting such measures, her suggestion last Thursday to cauvery delta farmers to go in for alternate crops forced people to think that she had washed off her hands on Cauvery issue', Dr Ramadoss said.
