Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) posted a five wicket win over Sri Lanka's Ruhunu Eleven in the opening match of the Champions League qualifier at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday.
Chasing 139, T&T were in a spot of bother when they lost half their side for 81 but Sherwin Ganga smashed 39 off 15 balls and Darren Bravo struck a solid 44 to take the team home.
Ruhunu were restricted to 138 in an innings that saw five run outs. T&T and West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul took two wickets for 17 runs.
The top three teams out of six competing in the qualifier will advance to the main stage of the competition starting on September 23.
