As I had expected, India had it easy. It is a big wake-up call for England as they head back home and now need a complete re-think of the way they play their one-day cricket. Andy Flower, Alastair Cook and the brains trust need to do a complete overhaul of the limited-over format. There is plenty of planning that will be required for them to make a triumphant return to the format.

The England team has had a kick on the backside from a very good young Indian side. While we focus on the negatives for the English team, India have a number of positives to build on.

Look at the players who were missing — Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh. Everyone thought India would struggle, but it was far from it. The fielding standards were top class and the support to the bowlers was excellent.

They are being led by a very excellent captain in Dhoni. He is one of the best finishers in the one-day game. He has done it time after time. He is exceptional, level-headed, never gets flustered when he is in the middle.

He is exemplary in the way he throws caution to the wind when required. He knows when to attack and did it in a fine way.
