Police have registered a complaint under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 373 (rape) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old watchman, who was caught after he allegedly tried to kidnap a minor in Colaba last week and was later arrested by the Colaba police, has now been handed over to the Cuffe Parade police to ascertain his involvement in the rape case of minor girls earlier this year.

The Colaba police had arrested one Tarun Malik after a watchman spotted him while he was allegedly trying to kidnap a minor. The watchman managed to nab him with the help of locals.

An officer of Cuffe Parade police station said, “As per the procedure, we have sent Malik’s DNA, fingerprints and blood samples to the forensic laboratory at Kalina to check if it matches with the samples collected from the bodies of the minor girls who were raped and murder in early 2012.”

The Cuffe Parade police secured Malik’s custody on Friday. The Colaba police have booked him for wrongful confinement and kidnapping.
