Jewellery, cash worth Rs. 5 lakh stolen from NRI's house

Jewellery and cash worth around Rs. 5 lakh was stolen from the house of a non-resident Indian (NRI) in Gurdev Nagar locality of the city on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday near here.


The complainant NRI Rajesh Arora stated in his complaint that he and his family were out of town on Sunday and when they reached their house on Monday, the lock of the main door was found broken.

The house had been ransacked, the locker of the main almirah was also broken.

Gold ornaments weighing 16 tolas and Rs. 4,000 cash was found missing.

Fingerprint experts and a dog squad was pressed into service to collect vital clues to trace the accused, the police said.

A case of theft has been registered in this regard.
