India and Pakistan cricketers deserve kudos for braving the bone-chilling weather at the Kotla on Sunday. It was 1.9 degrees C, and certainly not easy on the cricketers.
The public also deserves a big round of applause because they came out in large numbers, knowing well that India had already lost the series and the weather would be extremely cold.
The enthusiasm shown by the crowd in such testing conditions also shows that a good strong India side is so important to the game.
The conditions helped the new-ball bowlers. Because two separate balls were used from both ends as per the new ODI rules, the advantage was well utilised by Ishant, Bhuvnesh and young Sami.
Bhuvanesh once again picked up early wicket and that delivered a psychological blow to the Pakistanis, who were chasing a low target.
This young India attack, along with Dinda, needs to be carefully handled so that it can mature into a potent attack.
Once Umesh, who is nursing an injury, Sreesanth and Zaheer Khan are back, this attack will look good, and from then on, the real job of the bowling coach and trainer would be to keep them fit.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled very well and he can develop into a special cog in the India lineup.
He will need to take care of his batting, and if he can develop that aspect, then India will have the luxury of playing with five regular bowlers and plenty of depth in batting as well.
The India fielding was a revelation and the way the young guys stopped the flow of runs at the start created pressure on the opponents.
